A day on Lutine
Hiscox MGA's Marine team decided to have a little fun this month and ventured down to the south coast for a tour of the Oyster boat yard and some on the water experience on the Lloyd’s yacht, Lutine.
The Oyster boat yard tour was a great experience for everyone and it was fascinating to see the boats in various stages of the build, a big thank you to Oyster for their time.
Following our tour we headed over to meet Lutine and motored over to Cowes where we enjoyed a team dinner and an overnight stay on the boat.
We were up bright and early and excited for our day ahead, the weather had been scorching for the past few weeks and we thought we were in for a leisurely sail whilst sipping G&Ts in the sun. However in true British style the forecast took a turn for the worse and we were forced to swap our shorts and t-shirts for full wet weather gear! We headed out into the Solent with the rain in our faces and not a G&T in sight but we all got stuck in and learned what sailing is really about - teamwork and getting wet!
Meanwhile, just around the corner from Cowes our new Deputy Head Of Marine, Simon Tonks, was competing in the Willis Towers Watson 2017 Carrier regatta. There were 13 teams competing in the Sea View Yacht Club's Mermaids and after 5 races in strong winds the Hiscox boat managed to win the regatta with Willis a close second.
The trip was enjoyed by all and was a great way to help us develop a better understanding of our clients' requirements from a design, construction and usage perspective.
With most of the MGA’s clients now out enjoying their boats, September will be a busy month for the team attending boat shows and meeting new and existing clients.
